Employers in the county were mailed a survey and those firms not responding to the original letter were mailed a replacement questionnaire three weeks later.
Of the 31 Lafayette County employers interviewed, 50% are single establishments, 23% are owned by a multi-establishment firm, 7% are locally owned but franchised to sell brand-name products or services, and 20% are establishments that own other branches.
To obtain information on wages in Lafayette County, employers were asked to provide the entry level and maximum wage rates for each job in their establishment, as well as the number of workers in each position (Table 4).
